Ronald Binion
Ron Binion – Puppeteer | Designer | Humanitarian
Ron Binion is a puppet artist based in Los Angeles, CA. He works in film, television, and theater, and is currently a project manager at Spectral Motion, overseeing the development and production of character and creature projects.
He trained and performed at the Center for Puppetry Arts from 1991 to 1995 and later worked for the Muppet Workshop in New York on productions including The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss, Muppet Treasure Island, and Elmo in Grouchland. He received two Daytime Emmy nominations for puppet and costume design for The Book of Pooh (Disney Channel) and The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss (Nickelodeon).
Ron performed the character “Pixel” on the international children’s television series LazyTown, and his screen puppeteering credits also include Imaginary (2024), Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities: Pickman’s Model (2022), Babylon (2022), and Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021).
He has fabricated puppets and stage effects for Broadway productions including The Lion King, the Pippin revival, Ghost, and Avenue Q, contributing to the integration of puppetry and illusion in live performance.
He has created personal theater projects that focus on Bunraku-style puppetry, using ensemble-based manipulation and visual storytelling. He had been an invited guest artist and workshop facilitator at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s National Puppetry Conference, where he supported the development of new work and emerging puppeteers.
Ron is a lead artist with No Strings International, developing puppet-based media for humanitarian outreach in communities affected by conflict, disaster, and displacement.
Outside of work, he is a dedicated marathon runner with more than 20 marathons completed in the U.S. and internationally.
